The Port of Miami Tunnel was a major undertaking of the FDOT and the Port of Miami that envisioned to facilitate the freight transport between McArthur Causeway and the Port of Miami. EAC Consulting, Inc., was contracted by Buoygues Civil Works Florida, Inc., to perform and provide structural / bridge peer review services from a number of bridge structures included in the Port Tunnel Project. EAC’s peer reviews consisted of an independent design check, a check of the plans and specifications, a verification that the design submittal was in compliance with all the Manuals and Guidelines listed in the RFQ and other Department standards, policies, procedures and applicable temporary design bulletins, and a determination of whether the submittal was prepared using sound engineering practices. The independent peer review comments and corresponding responses were included with the submittal package. EAC provided structural peer review services at 60% and 90% design stages for the following design work: MacArthur Bridge Widening, Watson Island Control Building, Dodge Island Control Building, Dodge Island Maintenance Building, Dodge Island Grade Separation Structure.
