Client: Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX)
Location: Miami-Dade County, Florida
Service: Program Management
EAC provided direction and oversight for this five-year contract with the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority (MDX). The work program’s construction costs were over $500 million. MDX has 31 miles of expressways. This includes a new three-mile extension of SR-836 which opened in 2007 as the first cashless Open Road Tolling (ORT) roadway in Miami-Dade County. Our primary responsibilities included the management and oversight of the General Engineering Consultant (GEC) work products as assigned by MDX. Strategies were developed and implemented to successfully manage MDX’s resources. From planning and design through to construction, assistance was provided for strategic planning and work program development, as well as other assignments from MDX.
EAC, as part of its GEC contract with MDX, was tasked with programming and management of the design and construction management services for the relocation of a 48-inch PCCP Force Main and installation of a 36-inch Force Main as part SR-826/SR-836 Interchange improvements.
The project also included making connections to existing mains at low flow periods within the time determined by the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department; dewatering existing mains; cleaning, testing, and disinfecting the mains; temporary and permanent repairs; curb and gutter restoration; sidewalk restoration; furnishing additional suitable backfill materials; and all other appurtenant and miscellaneous work needed in order to achieve a fully functional installation.
