Project Overview
This project consisted of the reconstruction of SW 9th Avenue (Franjo Road) into a future Main Street and thoroughfare for the Village of Palmetto Bay. The purpose was to significantly enhance the area’s physical conditions through infrastructure improvements and to promote future growth in accordance with the Village’s Downtown Urban Village (DUV) code. The project included the design of Complete Streets – streets having Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalks and curb ramps, bike lanes, landscapes, and on-street parking). Project features also included traffic calming, new stormwater management systems, new 12-in diameter watermains, gravity sewer mains, a street park, landscape and hardscape improvements, textured pavements, corridor decorative lighting, and miscellaneous street furnishings.
