Project Overview
The CATS – BLE Project extended the existing LYNX Blue Line Light Rail Transit (LRT) service that involves the construction of a conventional electrified light rail line for a distance of approximately 9.3 miles, extending from Uptown Charlotte (Central Business District) to the University of North Carolina Charlotte (UNCC) campus. The project added 11 new stations, with approximately 3,100 parking spaces at four stations; procure 22 new light rail vehicles (LRVs); added a new storage yard and support facility; and added improvements to the existing vehicle maintenance facility to support the additional fleet. EAC, as part of a joint venture team, provided the FTA with Project Management Oversight (inclusive of Construction Management Oversight) services. Our responsibilities included periodic on-site visits and preparing recurring oversight and related reports, providing proactive problem solving and project oversight management services that resulted in beneficial professional opinions and recommendations that assisted the Grantee in achieving project success.
