Project Overview
EAC Consulting provided professional engineering design services for the preparation construction plans and specifications for the Rehabilitation of Runway 19L 1R at North Perry Airport (HWO). Runway 19L 1R is one of four runways at HWO and functions in the North South orientation measuring a length of 3,200 feet by 100 feet wide. The runway has performed admirably for many years but was in need of rehabilitation since the last major construction on the runway probably dates back to 1960s. In addition, both the North Perry Airport Master Plan Update and FDOT’s Pavement Evaluation reports recommend repair and rehabilitation on the runway. EAC performed the necessary field evaluations on the project and determined that some segments of the runway required full reconstruction. EAC was responsible for the pavement design, paving and grading plans design, signage and pavement marking, runway horizontal & vertical geometry/alignments, cross sections and the entire construction plans package. The existing runway did not exhibit any signs of drainage and storm water management deficiencies and so minimal drainage improvements were proposed as part of the improvements. EAC provided bid and award support services and conducted all the pre bid conferences required to assure a successful bid process. EAC and its team of sub consultants was also required as part of its scope of work to perform full time resident project representative services (RPR) for the construction phase of the project.
